“The Freedom of Angels” Exhibition

27 March 2025

The exhibition is presented as a synthesis of art and the martial arts (aikido), with an emphasis on respecting the laws of nature and the connection between the material and the spiritual world.

Humanity has always dreamed of the freedom that wings represent. From ancient civilisations such as Sumer and Egypt to the present day, the wing has served as a symbol of the divine and of “the flight of the soul” towards its dreams.

The works range from realistic drawing to abstract forms that try to encode energy and higher vibrations.

Hristo Mihailov was part of the team that discovered the Varna Necropolis, home to the oldest worked gold in the world. He focuses his research on the ancient civilisations of the Bulgarian lands, noting that these ancestors lived in harmony with the Universe and used sacred mathematical proportions such as the golden ratio, Euler's number and the Fibonacci numbers.

Drawing on his experience in aikido, the artist describes his creative process as a form of “samurai thinking”: being present and responding fully to the moment, and using art as a way of fulfilling a responsibility to history and culture.

The event featured classical guitarist Teodor Dimitrov, who performed several pieces reflecting the emotional and spiritual themes of the exhibition.

The exhibition calls on viewers to connect with their own “inner angel” and to seek spiritual perfection through the beauty of art and harmony.
